If you notice a small rust speck, addressing it quickly can prevent spreading. Dry the area thoroughly, gently remove surface rust, and touch up with a matching rust-inhibiting paint or clear sealant made for metal. If rust is coming from joints or hardware, replacing the affected screw or adding a protective dab of clear coating can slow recurrence.
